Your Tasks
The position is in the Corporate Operational & Technical Excellence department and reports to Corporate Operational Excellence Lead.
As the Manager Maintenance Excellence, you will be responsible for driving excellence in maintenance processes, optimizing equipment reliability, and improving performance across all divisions of the Group. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong operational background and focuses on continuous improvement. Working in the matrix organization, you will collaborate cross functionally with the divisional counterparts to implement and sustain group-wide maintenance initiatives, such as Autonomous Maintenance, Preventive & Predictive Maintenance and Spare Parts Management & Optimization. You have the ability to drive the group initiatives with your proactive and go the extra mile attitude and achieve the overarching goals and results in a matrix environment.
Strategy and Governance:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance management strategy (preventive, predictive and condition based maintenance) aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure group maintenance projects and initiatives are successfully launched and achieved the desired results.
Community Leadership:
- Cultivate a collaborative community among maintenance professionals in different divisions, encouraging knowledge sharing and best practice exchange.
- Facilitate regular forums and workshops to promote cross-site learning and build a cohesive network of maintenance experts.
Process Optimization and Development:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the maintenance management and spare parts management framework.
- Drive the development of standardized maintenance practices, ensuring consistency while accommodating site-specific needs.
- Create spare parts policy and governance model in close collaboration with other corporate functions and the divisions.
Performance & Reliability Management:
- Drive asset reliability and availability improvements (OEE, MTBF, MTTR)
- Analyze maintenance performance across sites and identify improvement initiatives
- Support plants in root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM)
- Lead continuous improvement programs (e.g. TPM)
Cost & Budget Management
- Define benchmarks and targets for maintenance costs
- Evaluate make-or-buy strategies and framework contracts with service providers in close collaboration divisions and other corporate functions
Maintenance Digitalization:
- Define predictive maintenance strategy in alignment with other corporate functions and divisions.
- Champion and coordinate digitalization initiatives for maintenance, including predictive analytics and condition-based maintenance.
Training and Development:
- Design and implement training programs to enhance the skillset of maintenance professionals, focusing on the effective implementation of planned maintenance strategies.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, ensuring that maintenance teams stay informed about industry trends and advancements. Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in maintenance technologies, viz. condition monitoring and predictive maintenance.
Your Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Strategic and structured mindset with hands-on pragmatism
- Strong influencing skills without direct line authority
- Intercultural competence in an international matrix organization
- Clear communication and stakeholder management capabilities
- Analytical mindset with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Familiarity with CMMS / ERP (SAP PM preferred). Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance management or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance systems and methodologies
- Proven experience in a multi-site or corporate role is highly desirable
- Willingness to travel extensively
- Fluency in English and German, both written and spoken
